Piazza Delle Erbe

After paying visit to Juliet's House, uncovering new things about the attractions, and most importantly grabbed our Romeo or Juliet, we decide to go on a date in... a square?.

It's evening you are picking what to wear, you want to look good, and presentable. All of a sudden you stumble to this post and you see an image like this one 👇

You wonder what is this place, and where is it? Well this is our next destination of the Verona Tour, I present to you Piazza Delle Erbe.

This is a quite popular place during day-time with many people visiting, and the little daily market going on where you can get souvenirs and little gifts for families, and friends when returning from your trip in Verona. During the evening however it's much quieter, the market is closed, not as many tourists, restaurants like 'Teta de Giulieta' and bars like 'Casa Mazzanti Caffe', and 'Caffe Filippini' are still open, meaning that you can enjoy a night out with friends, family, or your partner.

Noticeable monuments in 'Piazza Delle Erbe', are 'Torre dei lamberti', an ancient tower that was built between the 12th - 13th century. The tower has two bells: the Marangona signals fires, work times, and the hours of the day, while the largest, called Rengo, is used to call the population to arms or to invoke the city's councils.

Another one is the fountain with the statue, you may think that this is just a normal to make the square look better, well the fountain is the square's most ancient monument built by Cansignorio della Scala in 1368. This fountain is surmounted by the statue called 'Madonna Verona', which is Roman sculpture dating from 380 AD.
